Sensible Heat
Sensible heat is thermal energy that changes the temperature of air or another substance — the kind of heat you can feel directly with a thermometer. In HVAC, sensible heat is contrasted with latent heat (moisture). When AC cools air from 78°F to 72°F without changing humidity, it removes only sensible heat; when it also dehumidifies, it removes both. Heating calculations are usually pure sensible; cooling calculations split between sensible and latent.
