Pretty Good House
Pretty Good House (PGH) is an informal performance standard developed by builders in the northeast US who wanted Passive House-quality results without the certification overhead. PGH targets are usually around 75-90% of Passive House numbers: ACH50 ≤1.5, R-30 walls effective, R-60 attic, U-0.22 windows, balanced HRV/ERV ventilation. The PGH approach prioritizes durable, simple details that make sense for owner-builders and small custom builders, with tested results on a budget.
